It’s hard to believe that everything was hitting the stores at the end of August so if you weren’t able to snag one of these adorable Urabn Outfitter Ghost Pillows then you are in luck! Priced at $39 it wasn’t too expensive but since it has been sold out for weeks it isn’t available anymore. No worries, for just a few dollars you can make your very own. Today I am sharing how I made this Urban Outfitters Ghost Pillow DIY Dupe for only $4 or less so make sure to scroll down or save it for later!
What You’ll Need
No sewing skills required although I did sew this one. This was a quick nap time project so I would say this took about an hour from start to finish because I did this in between two different naps. Supplies you will need are: fabric, felt, needle and thread or fabric glue, and stuffing or an old small pillow. You can see what I used below.
Sherpa Fabric & Felt
You will need Sherpa fabric or soft fabric for the ghost pillow 30” x 36” (2 pieces of 15” x 17”) and some black felt for the eyes (3” by 8”)
Stuffing or old pillow
You’ll want to use some stuffing or a smaller sized old pillow to make this ghost pillow soft and comfy.
Needle & Thread or fabric glue
I used a sewing machine then need & thread for securing the felt eyes and mouth pieces and closing up the side after stuffing the pillow.
Let’s Make It!
Print FREE Ghost Pillow Pattern
Print out my FREE Ghost Pillow Pattern FREE Ghost Pillow Pattern and cut out eyes, mouth and the ghost pillow ‘body’. Tape pages together at the ends and pin onto fabric. Pin eyes and mouth pieces onto your felt.
Cut
Cut out your sherpa fabric for the ghost pillow ‘body’ and the felt for the ghost pillow eyes and mouth pieces. This should give you a ghost ‘body’ measuring about 12″ x 17″

Sew or Glue
With right sides together sew all around the sherpa ghost pillow ‘body’ leaving an opening on the side to stuff.
Sew or Glue
Flip your fabric so the right side is out. Now you can see what your ghost pillow will look like! Sew or glue on your ghost eyes and mouth felt pieces.
Stuff
I used an old pillow that had lost half it’s fluff which was a great way for me to use it since no one wanted a flat pillow. If using stuffing just add as much as you would like in terms of fullness.
Sew or Glue
Sew or glue shut the opening. I used a ladder stitch to sew it shut by pushing my needle through the edge on one side and going across to the other side and sewing slightly inside so you wouldn’t see the thread. (see the video below for a visual)
That’s It!
That’s it, just fluff to make sure all the stuffing or your pillow is settled into it’s spots inside your new Ghost Pillow and enjoy!
